February Night Meeting
Kestrel Michaud - "Stitch Theory" Kestrel will tell the story of her fraught relationship with stitches: from necessary evil to integral parts of the design. She will cover her current quilting technique, how she incorporates the use of non-fabric mediums, and why she pays attention to weird shadows at quilt shows. February Day Meeting Kestrel M. - "Kestrel's Creations" This presentation features a deep dive into her creative history and artistic process. Her award-winning quilts are the culmination of a lifetime of artistic growth. The first half of the program explains how she got to where she is today. The second half covers her process using behind-the-scenes photos and videos from the makings of multiple quilts. Free Motion Quilting In January we began a monthly demonstration on free-motion quilting, so put a pencil and a sketch pad in your "go to meeting tote bag". Then use visualization to link your drawing to your hands. Then tear out the paper and put it under the needle of your machine (needle up!) and move the paper to firm-up your motor memory. Finally, try it on a prepared quilt sandwich. |
