Open Sewing & Pin Basting Your Quilt Sandwich
Monday,  Dec. 4 • 10:30–4:00 • Public Library, 239 N. Spring St. at Gregory
SOS offers a day of sewing and visiting with friends. Plus, we'll have raised tables for pin-basting some quilts! Bring something you want to finish by Christmas—or  early ideas for a new quilt for the 2025 show–or any hand sewing you want to work on!
OR bring a medium-to-large quilt top that's ready to turn into your "quilt sandwich" to get started with free-motion quilting or hand quilting! (In August, five of us pinned 2 very large quilts and 3 medium quilts in less than 5 hours. I’m sure it would take longer than that to pin a quilt on your own!)
The library is the perfect location! Ample tables in a large space, perfect spot for hand- or machine-sewing! Plus room to raise the tables for easy cutting and pin basting as a group. We’ll do the first quilt as a group and work on more as time allows—depending on how many show up to help. Sign up online or at monthly meetings. The cost is $10.00 to general costs of offering SOS.
SUPPLIES: If you plan to bring a quilt for pin basting, be sure to bring quilting pins. Experienced "pinners" seem to prefer Dritz brand 1-1/8 inch. (You need to supply your own pins because you'll be taking them home with you. ) Plus you might want to bring on old teaspoon or a Kwik Klip for closing and opening the pins. Feel free to bring your sewing machine. We'll have cutting boards & rotary cutters, irons, and ironing boards.
