Open Sewing & Pin Basting Your Quilt Sandwich
Tuesday, Jan. 21 • 10:30–4:00 • Public Library, 239 N. Spring St. at Gregory
The countdown for finishing show quilts is here! Are your show quilts close to being finished? Do you want to have expert bindings? Need to make your quilt labels? Know how to put a sleeve on your quilt? SOS is here to help with all of that! Plus, there will be plenty of time to have dinner on the way to PQG monthly meeting!
SOS offers a FREE day of FREE sewing and visiting with friends. Plus, we'll have raised tables for pin-basting some quilts! Finish the work on your quilt top for the 2025 show––or bring any hand sewing you want to work on!
OR bring a medium-to-large quilt top that's ready to turn into a "quilt sandwich" for free-motion quilting or hand quilting! Plus, with only two weeks until quilt show registration ends, a couple of experienced members will be present to help you with details pertaining to registration.
The library is the perfect location! Ample tables in a large space, perfect spot for hand- or machine-sewing! Plus room to raise the tables for easy cutting and pin basting as a group. We’ll do the first quilt as a group and work on more as time allows––depending on how many show up to help. Sign up online or at monthly meetings.

SUPPLIES: If you plan to bring a quilt for pin basting: be sure to bring about 300 small quilting pins (a slight curve on one side makes quilt-pinning easier). Experienced "pinners" seem to prefer Dritz brand 1-1/8 inch. (You need to supply your own pins because you'll be taking them home with you. ) Plus you might want to bring on old teaspoon or a Kwik Klip for closing and opening the pins.
And don't forget your quilt batting and the quilt backing. Both should be at least 8 inches larger than your quilt top in both directions, basically 4 inches per side.
Feel free to bring your sewing machine. We'll have cutting boards & rotary cutters, irons, and ironing boards.
